Free Crochet Pattern – Leafy Scarf

The Leafy Scarf crochet pattern is more of a recipe than a pattern…. I love the Sugar and Cream cotton yarn from Lilly in Hot Green. It screams “MAKE LEAVES” at me every time I see it so I finally gave in and made a scarf. The main body is a simple leaf motif from My Picot that I embellished with a nice border on the sides. I used about one and a half skeins of yarn to make this crochet pattern.

A few notes:

This crochet pattern is not intended for a specific yarn type but it will work better with a yarn that works up into a somewhat solid fabric and shows the pattern clearly. You should make a test swatch of the full repeat to see if it will show the leaves well. I chose this cotton for the color but any similar type is great. And obviously, the smaller or larger the yarn weight, the smaller or larger your scarf will be.

I took the scarf with me to Tokyo in September but it was WAY too hot to wear. The poor scarf ended up being padding for my camera in my backpack instead of being worn. I finally got to wear it in November when the temps dipped just low enough to warrant a scarf. Check it out:

The jacket is a new one that I bought on this last trip to Japan. It’s a light canvas trench style coat with a liner that zips out.
