Junk Food in Japan is Good

I love good “junk food” – candy, cookies, and soda. Anything you can buy at a convenience store, really. It’s part of why I love Japan so much. The Japanese are the rulers of convenience food.

As an example – canned coffee:

This canned coffee is fantastic. See the sandwich in the back ground of the picture? IT WAS AMAZING! It was a package with a crustless egg salad and a crustless turkey with cucumber!! NOM NOM NOM!

My favorite soda on this trip:

Diablo Ginger! Best soda in Japan by far! light and refreshing it was like drinking liquid ginger but it strangely NEVER gave me heart burn. It’s made by Kirin and seems to be seasonal.

Great candy:

Crunky, is almost exactly like a Nestle Crunch bar in little chunks or in bars.

Off to the left under the red package, is a skinny little package with blue writing. Can you make out the little durian fruit on the package? It was my least favorite of my junk food adventures. Durian Hi Chew. I will never be convinced to eat durian now.  I tried it and almost spit it out because it tasted like moldy wet gym socks.

Here is a better shot of the package:

The candy blog has a good review.
