We have friends all over Southern California and sometimes you just can’t take the full size bike, as much as you may want to.
His Folding Bike
Ages ago, Husband bought a Tikit from Green Gear Cycling AKA Bike Friday and it has served him well but I’d taken to riding it when we travel. Our last trip to Tokyo, I rode the Tikit and Hubs took his ECR.
Hubs was more than a little miffed when we figured out that his lovely ECR would not fit in my car. Which is odd, because it has the same amount of space in the back as my old GTI but alas, no. It was a sad day but we found a bright side, he could buy the Brompton he’s wanted for awhile.
The Brompton is a lovely bike. It’s got a quick fold and looks really stable. I, personally, find it a little twitchy but that is normal for smaller bikes.

The Tikit in Tokyo
I spent a ton of time getting back to normal and have been trying to bike more and more. The Tikit has come in handy for that!! We’ve packed up the bikes a few times and gone to ride with friends. Hubs took the photo above on our second trip to Japan – I wish I had properly archived his site because he had a great article on the pluses and minuses of the bike. I like the Tikit quite a bit but its a little difficult to maneuver when folded, unlike the Brompton.
