2020 sucks frozen

2020: It sucked slightly less than the year I died…

Is the title of the 2020 post crude? yes. Do I care? Not really. It sucked and there is no nice way to say it. January of 2020 was the last time I posted because, what in the hell are you supposed to say when a pandemic covers the globe and people are locked in their houses? I have no idea…. but I’m on my fourth year not dead and that part is amazing.

Life in 2020

The first few months of the lock downs I tried not to freak out (and failed miserably most days). I’m high risk because of my previous health issues. Husband made every run to the grocery store from March until June. He freaked out every time he left with worry that he was going catch it and kill me with Covid-19. I do not have an immune deficiency but being on a ventilator again so soon would be very hard on my body with all my scar tissue. We watched the Trump administrations daily briefings and were relieved a tiny bit when the projections significantly reduced the death toll. The country went from millions projected dead to hundreds of thousands of dead. It is still not great but seemed less likely to kill me going to the store.

My job moved to 100% remote about a week or so before the initial lock downs here in California and it doesn’t look like I’m going back to my desk any time in the near future. I work in digital marketing and most of my team is accustomed to working remotely so the transition for us was a smooth one. I’ve talked to other people who were not so lucky and have struggled. I remember the day we did our remote “test” for my team back in March. Going to a doctor’s appointment, I wore my heavy duty N95 mask to go pick up my prescriptions and the store. People were making fun of me, to my face. and asking me if I thought it was over kill. I didn’t then and still don’t now.

Crafts in 2020

I spent a lot of time this year making things and sharing on social media. I do not remember how many fabric masks I’ve made for myself and my friends. I also rediscovered my love of craft forums! The one I used to visit often has become something else and now lives on at Lettuce Craft. I highly recommend a gander at the site.

Here are a few of my crafts:

I definitely hope next year is better and will start posting again soon.
